Children’s fishing derby to open on June 6

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) — Saturday, June 6 will mark the beginning of several kids fishing derbies, hosted by the Daniel Boone National Forest and their partners.

Hosted at Laurel River Lake and Cave Run Lake, National Forest’s Kimberly Bonaccorso said that the use of boat ramps outside of developed campgrounds will not require a fee pass or permit on Saturday or Sunday.

The derbies are free and open to the public, Bonaccorso announced, though children must be accompanied by an adult. She continued that while state harvest limits and other regulations still apply, Kentucky provides free fishing days each year on the first weekend of June.
