Childhood friend remembers train crash victim

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -Friends are mourning the lost of two people who were killed after being hit by a train in Winchester.

The crash happened Wednesday night at the intersection of 2 mile road and Mccullough Lane.

According to officials – Heather Shannon, 35 and Zachary Winings, 31 were in a car attempting to make a turn, stopped too short and got stuck on the tracks.

The Clark County Coroner says Winings died at the scene, while trying to help Shannon get out of the car and out of the train’s path.

Childhood friend, Lee Carter talked to ABC 36 about Shannon and shared his best memories.
