Chick-Fil-A temporarily closed after multiple employees call in sick

LEXINTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Chick-Fil-A in Fayette Mall is temporarily closed because so many employees have called in sick.

The restaurant chose to close after consulting with the Health Department.

The Health Department says the Fayette Mall location expected to re-open today, but chose to stay closed until Monday so it could get a deep cleaning.

The deep cleaning is supposed to include sanitizing all equipment plus an inspection from the Health Department.

According to the department, it’s too early to know what type of illness this is, but people are having stomach symptoms such as cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

As many of 15 employees have called out this week. The Health Department says it’s also starting to get calls from people who ate there and got sick.

The Health Department says this doesn’t seem to be Hepatitis A.

Chick-Fil-A Operator Tyler Bruce released a statement on the temporary closing of the restaurant.

“Yesterday, we voluntarily closed the restaurant at Fayette Mall as soon as multiple employees reported symptoms of being ill. Additionally, we proactively notified the health department to investigate the situation and they have confirmed that we have taken every necessary action to protect the well-being of our guests and team members. We’ve decided to keep the restaurant closed a little longer to ensure sanitization, and look forward to serving guests again soon.”

According to the Health Department, no other Fayette Mall Food Court restaurants have reported illness.
