Charlie Lanter Named Director Of Homelessness Office
The city’s newly created office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention now has its first ever director, Charlie Lanter.
Lanter said, "I don’t like to describe homelessness as a problem. It’s a symptom that happens as a result of our economic system."
Lantern’s first day is scheduled for May 5.

One of the group’s top priorities will be a program called Housing First. The idea is to get someone off the streets, into a house and then address any outside obstacles that may be contributing to a person’s homelessness.
This all comes as a recommendation by a study from the Mayor’s Commission on Homelessness study released in 2013.
