Charismatic Meets the Public at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Horse of the Year and 1999 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Champion Charismatic made his first public appearance Monday afternoon.
The 20-year-old stallion returned to the Bluegrass on Saturday, December 3rd to take up his new residence at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm, after 14 years as a sire in Japan.
Charismatic lost a bid for the Triple Crown to Lemon Drop Kid in the Belmont Stakes. Charismatic suffered an injury during that race that ended his racing career.
Old Friends is a non-profit organization that cares for more than 165 retired racehorses. It’s Dream Chase Farm, located in Georgetown, KY, is open to tourists daily by appointment.
