CentrePointe developers fire back at city
The letter, from CentrePointe’s developer to the city, was in response to a letter the developer received Tuesday evening from the attorney representing the Urban County Government. That letter cited a contractual agreement between the city and the developer from 2013, which says if there was no work done on the site for 60 consecutive days, the developers must restore it.

Mason Miller, the attorney representing the city, say it is more or less an insurance policy for the city if construction stopped, Lexington wouldn’t be left with a big hole in the middle of downtown.
The city says they are confident that no work has been done at the site for at least 60 days.
The letter to the city on Wednesday cites specific dates and information about the type of work that was reportedly done. Some of the examples also included pictures of people working at the site.
Wednesday morning, ABC 36 News spoke with Dudley Webb, the chairman of Webb Companies, he blamed some of the recent delays at the site on the harsh winter and the need to sell additional bonds to pay for the underground parking structure. The letter to the city also cited some specific examples of heavy snowfall and flooding in the past few months.
That same letter also says a prime tenant has pulled out of the project because of the city’s claims this week, but Webb Companies stopped short of naming that tenant.
The developers say they want the city to rescind the order to fill-in the hole and admit it was wrong in claiming the developers violated any restoration agreement by not doing any work over the last sixty days.
ABC 36 News reached out to city officials Wednesday evening, they said they had not yet received the letter and wouldn’t comment before seeing it.
