Cement truck driver dies in fiery crash in Lewis County

LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. (THE LEWIS COUNTY HERALD/WTVQ) – A cement truck driver died in a fiery crash late Wednesday morning in Lewis County, according to a report in The Lewis County Herald.

The report says 52-year old Robbie W. Wolfe, of Grayson, died at the scene of the rollover crash on KY 377, just north of the Rowan County line.

Investigators say Wolfe was driving a loaded cement truck to a nearby project when the right wheels dropped off the edge of the road.  Deputies say Wolfe apparently over-corrected, went back across the road, hit an embankment and overturned, coming to rest on the passenger side, according to the report.

Investigators told the newspaper the truck caught fire, causing extensive damage to the cab and engine areas.
