Cedar Creek Lake receives 12,000 trout

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Cedar Creek Lake in central Kentucky has been stocked with an additional 12,000 rainbow trout.

State wildlife officials are hoping the stocking will lure more anglers to the lake in Lincoln County.

The stocking was done recently by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Trout stockings began at the 762-acre lake in 2012.

Fisheries Research Biologist Dave Dreves says the lake remains a hidden gem among trout anglers.

He says an evaluation of previous stockings showed there wasn’t as big of a harvest as expected.

Anglers can catch rainbow trout with worms, cheese, corn, salmon eggs and Powerbait, as well as small in-line spinners and other lures.

The department stocked fish at three sites at the lake.

Officials say another stocking of 9,000 trout will follow in February.
