Casey County man indicted for assault of nurses and officer

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)– A Casey County man could face jail time after assaulting a police officer and two nurses while being treated at a hospital in 2017.

24 year-old Austin L. Scott of Liberty was indicted in Casey Circuit Court on February 2, 2018 for physically assaulting and harassing two nurses and threatening and assaulting a police officer.

The indictment was announced by Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Special Prosecutions, who will also be prosecuting the case with assistance from the Liberty Police Department.

According to the Office of the Attorney General, Scott is charged with one count each of third-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening, fourth-degree assault, harassment and second-degree disorderly conduct.

The assault charge is a class D felony, while the remaining charges are misdemeanors.

Scott could spend one to five years in prison if convicted.

He allegedly kicked a nurse and spit on another on February 6, 2017 when they attempted to treat him at a hospital

He also threatened and kicked a police officer during the same incident.

Arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 12, 2018, in Casey Circuit Court.

Bond has been set at $2,000.
