Carter County man accused of setting apartment fire
OLIVE HILL, Ky (WTVQ)- A Carter County man has confessed to setting an apartment fire, the Grayson Journal Enquirer reports, citing court documents.
According to the paper, a grand jury formally charged Harvey Middleton, 49, on a class A felony charge of first degree arson and 10 counts of first degree wanton endangerment.
Middleton is accused of setting a fire at 163 and 175 West Tom T. Hall Boulevard in Olive Hill as the people inside the building slept.
The Grayson Journal Enquirer reports the Olive Hill Police Department arrested Middleton May 11th at 4 a.m. after the fire badly damaged the apartment complex.
Police reports the paper cites say an officer read Middleton his Miranda rights and he, “wrote a statement admitting to setting the apartment on fire”.
The police reports also say Middleton told officers he had a fight with his wife and started burning her clothes. When the clothes were too hot, he dropped them on the floor and ran away.
