Carter County latest to become Second Amendment sanctuary in state

GRAYSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Carter County became the latest county in the state to declare itself a Second Amendment sanctuary.

The Judge-Executive’s Office said more than 100 people were in attendance for the vote and it was approved unanimously.

Carter County joins six other counties in the state that have already passed the resolution including: Cumberland, Hancock, Harlan, Knott, Letcher and Lewis.

Second Amendment sanctuary counties say the goal is to protect the rights of gun owners by not abiding by gun control laws seen as a violation of the Second Amendment.

Opponents say the resolutions are mainly symbolic and can’t be enforced.
