Portion of Malabu Drive closed until further notice after car hits hydrant Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) (UPDATE) – A portion of Malabu Drive between the Bank of Lexington and Speedway is closed until further notice.

According to the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works, residents in the area will be able to access their homes from Landsdowne Road. The entrances to the two office buildings are blocked.

The Department says Signage is up and the City is working with the utility to plan for repair. At this time, it is unknown when the road will be reopened.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A stretch of Malabu Drive near Tates Creek Road was temporarily closed Saturday night after a car hit a fire hydrant, sending water rushing down the road.

It happened around 9:20 p.m at the 800 block of Malabu Drive.

Police say a water main broke in the crash.

Kentucky American Water crews were called to repair the damage.

Lexington Police say there were no injuries.

They are investigating.
