Capital Plaza Complex project prompts traffic changes in Frankfort

FRANKFORT. Ky. (WTVQ)- With Capital Plaza Tower gone, construction crews are now moving to the next phase of the Capital Plaza Complex redevelopment project.

Traffic patterns in downtown Frankfort are going to change due to the scheduled demolition of the structure over KY 420/Mero Street.

Mero Street will be closed between St. Clair Street and Wilkinson Boulevard from Wednesday, March 28 through spring of 2019.

Because of work during phase one of the project, Mero Street became a two-way for traffic between High Street and Wilkinson Blvd., but will now convert back to one-way.

The current traffic pattern on Clinton Street will remain, but with a slight adjustment.

Clinton Street had also become two-way between St. Clair Street and High Street, but will now extend to Wilkinson Blvd.

Because of this extension, on-street parking will be prohibited along northbound Clinton Street between St. Clair Street and Wilkinson Blvd.

Accessing Wilkinson Blvd. from Mero Street will require a detour to St. Clair Street then to Clinton Street.

The intersections at Clinton Street, St. Clair Street, and Ann Street will continue as all-way stop intersections.

There maybe sidewalk restrictions near the Capital Plaza Complex and Frankfort Convention Center during construction.
