Candidate for Fayette County Coroner Files Complaint Against Current Coroner
In the complaint, filed Friday with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s Ethics Commission, Owens, who used to work under Ginn in the Fayette County Coroner’s office, claimed Ginn hadn’t worked full-time hours at the office in ten years.
According to Owens, Ginn is paid $72,000 annually as Coroner, but only worked from 3pm until 5pm. As a result, Owens asked that the Ethics Commission launch an investigation into Ginn’s time away from the office.
Ginn said he wasn’t required to work a set schedule, but that he did work more than two hours per day.
He said he considered his position to be full-time, stating that his work not only included time at the office, but that he was on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week as well as showing up at death scene investigations.
Ginn said he looked forward to talking with the Ethics Commission.
