Calm but humid Memorial Day with more rain chances ahead

Fog and drizzle early before a quieter afternoon

Patchy fog, locally dense at times, is expected through the morning hours, especially along and north of the Mountain Parkway. A few spots could see reduced visibility during the early commute, so drivers may want to allow extra time heading out.

A few leftover showers and areas of drizzle are also lingering across parts of eastern Kentucky early Monday, mainly closer to the Virginia and Tennessee borders. Those showers gradually fade through the morning as the atmosphere briefly settles down.

By the afternoon, many communities across the Bluegrass and eastern Kentucky should see a break from the heavier rain. It will stay warm, humid, and mostly cloudy, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s.

A few scattered showers or thunderstorms could still pop up later today, especially farther southeast, but coverage should be much lower compared to the weekend.

Storm chances ramp back up tonight into Tuesday

The quieter stretch does not last long. More showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later tonight and continue into Tuesday as another disturbance moves toward Kentucky.

Tuesday is shaping up to be another soggy day across the Bluegrass region, with periods of heavy rain possible once again. The atmosphere remains loaded with moisture, meaning any storm that develops could produce very efficient rainfall.

Localized flooding concerns will continue through Tuesday, especially in areas that have already picked up several inches of rain over the past week.

Wet pattern hangs on through much of the week

Unfortunately, there is still no long stretch of dry weather in sight just yet. Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through at least Thursday as a stalled weather boundary lingers near Kentucky.

Temperatures will stay seasonably warm, with highs mostly in the upper 70s to lower 80s and muggy overnight lows in the 60s.

There are some signs that drier weather may finally begin arriving by late week or next weekend, but until then the Bluegrass remains stuck in a very active and humid pattern.
