Busiest Day of the Year for Mail
People are frantically trying to find the perfect, last-minute gift and postal workers are ready to have it arrive by Christmas.
Monday USPS was expected to handle more than 600 million pieces of mail and post offices in Lexington expect to handle more than two million pieces.
“I think a lot of people do their Christmas shopping over the weekend and prepare their packages over the weekend so it’s just a natural thing to want to go ahead and get that errand done,” said Susan Wright, spokesperson for USPS about their busiest day of the year.
Monday wasn’t the deadline to get presents shipped to arrive by Christmas day but the longer people wait, the price could go up.
