Burned body found in truck after Rowan Co. forest fire

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Rowan County coroner says a body was found, severely burned, in a burned truck during a forest fire Monday afternoon.

The Kentucky Department of Forestry was air patrolling Rowan County, in the Daniel Boone National Forest area, when they saw a forest fire along Lockegee Road.

The U.S. Forest Service and the Morehead Fire Department discovered the burned out truck with a body inside.

They say they do no know where the fire started, but Kentucky State Police say they believe the fire started near where the truck was located.

KSP says that this case is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected. They are awaiting autopsy results to be sure.

The body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy, a cause/manner of death and an ID.

The U.S. Forest Service says around 50-60 acres caught fire, and they expect it to reach 80 acres before it is contained.
