Administrative Assistant at Bryan Station High wins statewide award
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – If you really want to know what’s going on in a school or where to go or what to do, ask the secretary. The people who work in the front office at schools are the unsung heroes of education. On Tuesday in Lexington, the principal’s administrative assistant at Bryan Station High School received the recognition she deserved.
Allison Marcum won the 2016 Wanda Luttrell Office Professional Award. It’s given to an education office employee who contributes significantly to the leadership team. Marcum had no idea she was being honored.
“It’s really exciting. I feel really honored. It’s a big deal. I’m just one person of the school. It’s nice to be recognized. I feel a little overwhelmed, though,” Marcum said.
Bryan Station High School Principal James McMillan called Marcum the “compass” of the school’s operation.
