Breezy and warm Monday ahead of Tuesday showers and storms

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Monday! We are tracking breezy winds and warm temperatures to begin the workweek. It’s a Go Day as well! Enjoy nice conditions today because showers and storms return late Monday night into Tuesday. Afternoon highs on Monday will reach the upper 60s and low 70s for most. Wind gusts upwards of 25-35 mph will be possible during the afternoon hours.

Wind gusts increase overnight, especially into central Kentucky. 30-40 mph wind gusts will be possible for areas west of I-75. A round of breezy showers and a few storms will move in after midnight and will likely be with us to begin your day on Tuesday. The rain chances on Tuesday will come in two waves. Wave #1 during the morning showers will be mainly breezy rain showers with a few storms possible. Wave #2 will pose a low-end strong-to-severe storm threat in north-central Kentucky during the afternoon and early evening.

The rain exits east overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. A few showers will be possible in eastern Kentucky during the first half of Wednesday before everyone will be drying out. Temperatures take a bit of a hit behind the system as well, falling into the 50s for highs on Wednesday.

Cooler air remains in the forecast for Thursday. Heading to the Cincinnati Reds opening day on Thursday? You’ll need a light jacket with temperatures remaining in the low-t0-mid 50s.

Easter weekend will be mild with above average temperatures looking likely. There will be rain chances but it is too early to exactly say when and where there will be rain and storms.
