KSP confirms remains found are Savannah Spurlock’s

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The search for Savannah Spurlock has ended.

At a press conference on Thursday afternoon in Richmond, Kentucky State Police confirmed that remains found on property in Garrard County were those of Savannah Spurlock.

Spurlock was last seen on January 4 leaving the Other Bar in Lexington with three men.

One of those men, David Sparks, was arrested and charged in connection to the case early Thursday.

That came after a relative, Alan Sparks, called his attorney Wednesday to report smelling a foul odor on his property on Fall Lick Road.

Investigators say that, in addition to the fact that David Sparks “is the primary suspect in a missing persons investigation,” led them to search the property.

When searching the property, investigators say they found decomposed human remains.

The remains were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office and were positively identified as those of Spurlock.

Sparks is charged with tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.

He appeared in court in Garrard County Thursday afternoon, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
