BREAKING: Explosion at Nicholasville car dealership
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Firefighters are on the scene of an explosion at a car dealership in Nicholasville.
The Nicholasville Fire Department responded to Car Town Kia off Lexington Road Wednesday afternoon.
According to the fire department, a 55-gallon metal barrel holding methanol exploded when someone was working on it with an open flame.
The barrel was outside the building.
Firefighters say one employee suffered severe burns all over his body. Another employee suffered minor burns.
Both were taken to the University of Kentucky hospital to be treated.
There were eight employees and three other people at the dealership when the explosion happened, according to firefighters.
