Boyle Co. Schools receive education grant

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Boyle County Schools was recently awarded
a $45,000 grant by the Kentucky Governor’s Office of Early Childhood.

The grant is aimed at improving school readiness for children age five and
under.

“We look forward to working closely with our partners in order to better
prepare young children in our community to start school,” commented
Jenna Blair, Preschool Director for Boyle County Schools.
“From childcare centers to caregivers, these tools will be beneficial to everyone.”

They say the majority of the funds will be used to strengthen the partnership with
Boyle County Preschool and area childcare centers in order to better
prepare those children for school.

The grant will provide training to those conducting screenings and will allow everyone
to use a common tool and common language when discussing school
readiness.

A portion of the funds will be used to sponsor an event on August 3 from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boyle County Public Library.

This event will provide
caregivers of children ages birth to five age-appropriate activities to
enhance learning.
