Boy Scout Looking to Restore Historic House

Erik Seitz is trying to become an Eagle Scout, however the historic Perry House is in his way.

Seitz is trying to raise 25-thousand dollars to renovate the building’s exterior.

The Perry House is located at Camp Nelson in southern Jessamine County right of Highway 27. The 160 year-old home served as the Officer’s Quarters at the Union Army base during the Civil War.

Seitz was planning on taking his time in raising the money, however the county fiscal court put him on a deadline.

The court wanted the renovation completed for the Civil War Days in September, giving him a month to raise the money and complete the project. If not completed by then the county will fix up the building themselves.

Seitz says he’s reaching out to the fiscal court for help or even a partnership.

Right now Seitz has a about a thousand dollars.
