Bowling Green airport to offer daily flights to Atlanta
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport will soon offer daily flights to Atlanta.
The Bowling Green Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1WCGZTO) the announcement was made Tuesday. Officials say that Contour Airlines of Smyrna, Tennessee, will offer two flights a day to Atlanta during the week, and one flight a day on the weekends.
The airline will also offer a weekly flight to Destin, Florida, on a seasonal basis.
Airport Manager Rob Barnett says the airline hopes to start offering the flights as early as August. Ticket prices have not yet been determined.
An effort to bring commercial air service to the airport has spanned at least seven years. Since air service ended at the airport in 1972, local officials have been working to lure another carrier.
