Bond set at $1 million cash for couple accused in toddler’s death

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Friday a judge entered a “not guilty” plea for a couple charged with murder in the death of a two-year boy in Madison County, according to court records.

Bond for the boy’s mother, 26-year old Seara Clements, of Berea, and her boyfriend, 31-year old William Butler, of Berea, was set at $1 million cash for both, according to court records.

State Police say they were contacted Monday of this week when 2-year old Tristan Clements was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries while in the care of his mother and her boyfriend.  The toddler died at UK Hospital on Wednesday.

The couple is charged with murder, criminal abuse of a child under 12, and failure to report neglect or abuse.

They are both in the Madison County Detention Center.

The two are due back in Madison District Court for a preliminary hearing at 9:00 a.m. on February 21, according to the court clerk.
