Body found in vehicle in Cumberland River

CLOSPLINT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A death investigation is underway in Harlan County after a body was found inside a vehicle that was submerged in the Cumberland River.

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office says someone spotted the vehicle in the water along KY 38 in Closplint on Wednesday morning.

The sheriff says investigators determined the vehicle went into the water Tuesday evening.

It was discovered after the river went down the following morning.

The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Rebecca Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Harlan County Coroner.
