“Blue P” installed to help find parking
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Parking Authority (LPA) announced on September 2 that new signs and street markings are being installed downtown.
The new “Blue P” signs and street markings will be placed near entrances of parking garages and parking lots that are open to the public.
This move is part of a city-wide plan to help citizens and visitors find parking more easily. There will also be “Blue P” icons on new maps and brochures, provided by the LPA.
“Visitors to downtown are often confused as to where parking facilities are located and whether or not they are allowed to park there.” said Parking Authority Executive Director Gary Means.
With help from the Division of Traffic Engineering, the LPA will install over 25 aluminum signs and 7 street markings. No tax revenue was used for these signs, says the LPA, as they are funded by the revenues collected in its parking operations.
New maps featuring these parking locations will be available on their website, at www.lexpark.org.
