Blue drop-off boxes showing up for absentee ballots

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Call them the bog blue boxes. Call them important.

The next step in a unprecedented expansion of voting opportunities hit the streets in Fayette and may other counties Thursday. They are the big blue boxes where voters ca drop off their mail-in absentee ballots.

Absentee ballots can be dropped in the mail or the Fayette County Clerk has installed six ballot drop boxes around Lexington for voters to conveniently return completed absentee ballots 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The ballot drop boxes are secure and bright blue – it’s easy to pick them out! The drop boxes are located at:

  • Tates Creek Branch Library, 3628 Walden Dr.
  • Northside Branch Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road
  • Beaumont Branch Library, 3080 Fieldstone Way
  • Lexington Senior Center, 195 Life Lane (behind Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road)
  • BCTC Leestown Campus, 164 Opportunity Way
  • County Clerk Office (162 E. Main St.)

Find out if you qualify for the absentee ballot. By Executive Order, all Kentuckians who are concerned about contracting or spreading COVID-19 may vote via absentee ballot for the 2020 general election.

The deadline to apply online for an absentee ballot is Oct. 9, 2020, no later than 11:59 p.m. EST. Ballots are being mailed now. Request an absentee ballot

Don’t forget … October 5 is the deadline to register to vote.

In addition to absentee by-mail, Kentucky voters can cast their ballot for this November’s election:

In-person before Election Day (Oct. 13 – Nov. 2). Early voting hours will be Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. You may vote at any location.
