Blood Drive honors Commerce Lexington President

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Commerce Lexington partnered with the Kentucky Blood Center to host a blood drive in honor of Commerce Lexington President Bob Quick.

Quick was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year.

He had a blood transfusion and for the last few months has been receiving chemo treatments.

Quick told ABC 36 that, until his cancer diagnosis, he did not realize the full impact the Kentucky Blood Center would have on his life.

He  encourages everyone to become a donor.

“Think about it,” says Quick, “You may be helping to save a life, you may be helping to keep a life going. It’s just something you don’t think about, but when you finally do and you give that blood, its gotta be one of the best feelings in the world.  I’m the recipient and I know how I feel about it.”

The blood drive is located off of Main Street at Commerce Lexington, 330 East Main Street, and will end today at 5:30 p.m.  Appointments can be scheduled at or by calling 800.775-2522, ext. 3758.
