Birthday celebration held for murdered Lexington man
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Friends and family of a Lexington man murdered nearly three years ago gathered Wednesday night at Highland Cemetery to celebrate what would have been his 21st birthday.
Tyler Williams was 18-years-old when he died after a shooting near the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and East Fifth Street in July 2017.
Family members say Williams was a talented skater and artist who was taken from the Lexington community too soon.
Williams’ grandmother, Jackie Shannon, has a special motto to help keep her grandson’s memory alive.
“You can’t kill love,” Shannon says, “because love will always be in your heart.”
Police have not named a suspect nor motive in the murder.
