Big shipment signals new phase of CentrePointe project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The CentrePointe project in downtown Lexington is moving up.

Construction crews recently completed a three-story underground garage at the site.

Construction has now started on a planned 12-story office tower.

It will be located at the corner of Main Street and South Limestone.

Crews began setting the foundation for the tower back in November.

On Tuesday, a large shipment of steel was delivered to help begin that portion of the project.

In addition to the parking garage, the $200 million CentrePointe project includes the office tower with condominium penthouses, a Marriott hotel, and an Extended Stay Residence Inn with a rooftop bar.

The office towers and hotels are expected to be finished by late 2018 but likely won’t be open until 2019.
