Bevin to file for statewide office
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Former U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin says he will run for a statewide office.
Bevin, a Louisville businessman, said in a statement that he would file the paperwork at the Capitol in Frankfort on Tuesday afternoon. He did not say which office he would seek, but he has been mentioned as a possible gubernatorial candidate.
The tea party-backed Bevin lost last year’s primary to incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Candidates have until 4 p.m. to file for one of six statewide offices that are on the ballot in 2015.
