Berea Tourism – L&N Days & 100th Anniversary

Berea Tourism: L& N Day – 100th Anniversary (June 3), 100th Anniversary Log House Craft Gallery (June 3)

A century in the making, L&N Day returns to the Berea Welcome Center, on Saturday, June 3, 9A-5P. The event, which celebrates the rich history of the old Louisville & Nashville Depot, will include train memorabilia, oral recollections of Berea’s railroad life, live music and more. Of note, Berea’s Welcome Center is located at 3 Artist Circle, which is the last brick station on the former L&N line between Cincinnati and Knoxville.

During the event, exhibitors from several states will bring various railroad items to display such as actual working model trains. Memorabilia including lanterns, time tables, pocket watches, plates from dining cars, paintings, and railroad magazines will also be available for purchase, as will train locks, which are quite rare. For younger visitors, there will be exhibitors who will showcase Thomas the Train items, as well as model trains for youngsters to enjoy.

The centennial L&N Day will be quite a remarkable event, and it coincides with the 100th anniversary of Berea College’s Log House Craft Gallery, 200 Estill Street, which will also be celebrated on June 3. The Log House Craft Gallery served as Berea College’s Fireside Weaving Studio and retail gallery space. Over the past 100 years, it has continued to be the premier showcase for Berea College Crafts and works by artists from the Appalachian area.
