Berea PD: Accidental 911 call leads to arrests

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Berea say two men are behind bars after they accidentally called 911 and were heard talking about drugs.

Officers say the 911 call came in around 2:30 a.m. on Friday.

According to the dispatcher, two men could be heard on the other end of the phone talking about heroin.

The dispatcher was able to trace the call to the area around the Circle K in Berea.

When officer’s arrived, they say they found the two men, 33-year-old Greg Collins, and 30-year-old Justin Cruse.  Police say they found a small amount of heroin and meth on Collins, and a handgun on Cruse.  According to police, Collins attempted to resist arrest, damaging one officer’s body camera, but was taken into custody with no further injury.

Cruse was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, while Collins faces charges of possession, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.

Both men were taken to the Madison Co. Detention Center.
