Berea bridge renamed to honor long-time mayor

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Dr. Clifford Kerby made a major impact on the city of Berea throughout his life.

Now, the city is honoring his contributions which included more than 40 years as a doctor and more than 30 as the city’s mayor.

Friday, Aug. 27, a new sign was unveiled renaming one of the city’s busiest landmarks in his honor. The bridge over on US 25/Richmond Road has been renamed the Mayor Clifford F. Kerby M.D. Memorial Bridge over Silver Creek on Highway 25.

Among his many contributions were funding for the city’s industrial park and a new sewage treatment plant. But those who shared many fond memories of Dr. Kerby, who died in 2010, were united by a central theme: his passion for the community he called home.
