Benefit concert in Prestonsburg for Blackjewel miners postponed

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A benefit concert in Prestonsburg scheduled for Sunday, August 25, has been postponed, according to show organizers.  No makeup date has been set.

The event is called, ‘A Concert for Coal Country:  Blackjewel Miners Benefit.’

It is scheduled to be held at the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) in Prestonsburg.

All proceeds are scheduled to go to out-of-work Blackjewel coal miners and their families, who haven’t been paid since the company filed for bankruptcy July 1, 2019.

Even though the concert has yet to be rescheduled, tickets are still available at the MAC box office.  You can reach the MAC at 606-886-2623.

The original lineup of performers included Sean Whiting, Nicholas Jamerson, Logan Hall, Bek and the Starlight Revue, Laid Back Country Picker and Waylon Ray Nelson.
