Bell County magistrate arrested on drug, theft charges

PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A southeastern Kentucky county official has been arrested on drug and theft charges.

The Bell County jail said 50-year-old Ricky Goodin remained in jail Tuesday night on 18 charges, including 17 drug-related counts and one theft. Bond was set at $5,000 on each count.

The Daily News in Middlesboro (http://bit.ly/19xr7vH ) said Goodin was arrested at his pawn shop north of Pineville on Tuesday. Cumberland River Drug Task Force Commander Roy Pace told the newspaper Goodin is accused of selling drugs out of the business.

The jail said Goodin had declined to speak to a reporter, and an employee didn’t know whether he was represented by a lawyer who could comment on the case.

Goodin took office in January after defeating Bill Partin in the November election by 83 votes.
