Beginners can test archery skills at tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Beginning archers can test their skills at a tournament at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.

The Snowflake Shoot tournament is set to start at noon on Jan. 2 and will be for beginners only.

State parks officials say there will be divisions beginning at ages 7 and up to adults 18 and over.

They say the tournament will be styled after a National Archery in the Schools Program tournament, where competitors shoot from 10 meters and 15 meters several times to get a final score.

Awards will be given out to the top two archers in each division.

Early registration is open and runs through Dec. 18. Registration ends on Dec. 26.

Fees are $15 a person during early registration and $20 a person after Dec. 18.
