Babysitter accused of beating baby
HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Hardin County woman is in jail, accused of beating an 8-month-old girl she was babysitting.
According to the News-Enterprise, the child was rushed to Hardin Memorial Hospital Tuesday, suffering severe blunt force trauma to her head as well as “several” nail marks back and side.
Officials say she suffered “the worst blunt force trauma’’ they had seen an infant survive.
Kentucky State Police arrested 23-year-old Jacy Mattingly later that night and charged her with criminal abuse.
The newspaper says Mattingly was interviewed by detectives and admitted to striking the child in the face twice, which caused severe bruising to her face.
Mattingly is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
