Baby Dead After Laurel Co. Crash; Grandmother Charged With Murder

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said a six-month-old baby was dead after a crash.

And investigators charged the child’s grandmother with murder.

Deputies said Melissa Worstell Henson was driving on Parker Road late Monday night when the car dropped off the shoulder, hit a culvert, flipped and crashed into a utility pole.

The sheriff’s office said Henson’s granddaughter was in the front seat and was not properly restrained.

The baby later died at the hospital, according to deputies.

Investigators said Henson, 46, London, admitted to taking drugs before driving.
