Baby beaver rescued by Kentucky Wildlife Center dies

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A baby beaver rescued by the Kentucky Wildlife Center in Lexington died over the weekend.

The death of Beatrice was announced on the wildlife center’s Facebook page.

The center says Beatrice was her “outgoing, exuberant little self” during her 6:30 a.m. feeding Saturday but, by 10:30 a.m., she was weak and lifeless.

She was taken to a veterinary center and treated for pneumonia but the center says she was unable to recover and died.

The center posted: “Unlike domestic animals, when the health of a wild animal starts to decline, often it’s not apparent.”

The center rescued the beaver last month after she lost her family when their home was destroyed.
