Authorities searching for armed robbery suspect

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – (WTVQ) Authorities need help finding a man they say committed armed robbery at a store near London.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, a man entered the Dollar Store at Saddlebrook on Sunday July 30, around 7:45 p.m.  They say he was allegedly trying to hide a cell phone he had taken from the store.

After a scuffle with a store clerk who tried to detain him, he fled out the front door according to authorities. They say the suspect was armed with a knife, and he left the scene in a white Chrysler 200, which had been reported stolen to London Police earlier.

Two deputies tried to stop the man in their vehicles, however he got onto the Hal Rogers Parkway into Clay County off Gilbert Collins Road near Oneida.  Police say that’s where he ditched the vehicle in a field and escaped on foot.  He has not been located.
