Family, world say goodbye to Phyllis George

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – While her family said goodbye in a private cemetery, the nation and world looked on, paying tribute to Phyllis George who passed away a week ago from a rare blood disorder at the age of 70.

Visitation for the former Kentucky First Lady, Miss America, pioneering sports broadcaster and businesswoman, was held Saturday at the Kentucky Castle in Woodford County.

Monday, a small, private service was held in Frankfort and was broadcast by Kentucky Educational Television.
