Arraignment for truck driver accused in deadly crash Monday
43-year-old truck driver Benjamin Brewer was arrested Friday night in Lexington. Brewer was indicted by a Tennessee grand jury for a June 25 accident. Investigators say he plowed into eight vehicles that were stopped because of construction, killing six people. Brewer, who had a listed address in London, was added to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list.
On Friday night, the US Marshal Service and Lexington police surrounded Brewer’s car in a Hamburg parking lot. They say Brewer was arrested without incident, until he got into the police cruiser where he started kicking a window. Police say Brewer had three grams of methamphetamine, xanax and a large amount of cash on him when he was arrested.
Brewer is facing charges of criminal mischief as well as charges for trafficking a controlled substance in Lexington. No word on when he could be extradited back to Tennessee to face charges there.
