Armed robbery during cell phone sale arranged online
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man who arranged online to buy a cell phone decided to pay with a gun instead of money Wednesday night, according to Lexington Police.
Investigators say it happened around 6:45 p.m. on Simba Way.
Police say the person who arranged to sell the cell phone showed up with a friend, met the supposed buyer, who pulled out a gun, took the phone and left.
No one was hurt, according to police.
Police say only the cell phone was stolen.
Investigators say they have a vague description of the armed robber.
Police say this crime serves as a reminder to anyone who arranges to meet a stranger to buy or sell anything, to do it in a public, well-lit area with security cameras. One location example, is in front of a police station.
