Armed robbery at cell phone store, employee’s car stolen

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An employee at the Verizon store on Richmond Road in Lexington was robbed at gunpoint Friday night and the robber stole the worker’s car to get away, according to Lexington Police.

Investigators say a man, with his face covered, walked into the business around 8:50 p.m., pulled a handgun, stole cell phones and then took the worker’s car.

Police say the car was found abandoned a short time later not far from the business.

Police are still looking for the robber. The cell phone store employee wasn’t hurt.

It was the second cell phone store robbery in the region in less than two weeks.

On May 18, two people robbed an AT&T store in Frankfort, sparking a chase across three counties that ended with a juvenile being caught in Louisville and another suspect getting away.
