LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Good Sunday everyone and Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there. We have had perfect weather today with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Our pattern is about to turn back active as we track rounds of rain and thunderstorms for the week ahead. Monday morning starts dry with temperatures in the low to mid 50s.
We should stay dry through early afternoon as temperatures hit the upper 70s to near 80.
But scattered thunderstorms and mor in the way of cloud cover moves in for later in the afternoon and evening as temperatures come down into the low to mid 70s.
A scattered shower or rumble of thunder will continue into Tuesday morning.
Rain and thunderstorms become widespread as the day goes on Tuesday with locally heavy rain and a stronger thunderstorm.
The WPC (Weather Prediction Center) is highlighting all of Kentucky for a “marginal” risk for flash flooding issues.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms will continue into Wednesday as well with highs in the low to mid 70s.
We catch a break on Thursday before more rain and storm chances move in Friday into the upcoming weekend. A widespread 1″-3″ of rain is likely over the next week with locally higher amounts possible.
