Annual jobless rates fall in 115 Kentucky counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky officials say annual unemployment rates fell in 115 of the state’s counties in 2015 compared to 2014.

The Kentucky Office of Employment Training says the jobless rate stayed the same in Owsley County and rose in Magoffin, Martin, Russell and Union counties.

Woodford County had the state’s lowest annual jobless rate in 2015 at 3.6 percent.

It was followed by Fayette County at 3.9 percent; Oldham County at 4 percent; and Owen, Scott and Shelby counties at 4.1 percent each.

Magoffin County had the state’s highest annual unemployment rate in 2015 at 14.7 percent.

It was followed by Russell County at 11.9 percent; Harlan County at 11.7 percent; Letcher County at 11.2 percent; Leslie County at 10.8 percent; Owsley County at 10.4 percent; and Wolfe County at 10.1 percent.
