UPDATE: 5-year-old taken from N. Broadway home found safe

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say 5-year-old Cordale A. Cowans  was found safe with grandmother in Detroit.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a kidnapping case of a 5-year-old child.

According to officers, a woman was assaulted by her husband, 35-year-old Michael Thomas, Monday morning, who afterwards left with his stepson.

Police say the child, Cordale A. Cowans, is not biologically related to Thomas.

Officers say Thomas took Cowans from the home in a 2003 Red Ford Explorer with Kentucky license plate 094 GJY.

The child, five-year-old Cordell Cowans, is around 4 feet tall and 30 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and basketball shorts.
