Ale-8-One now available in 42 states
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lovers of Ale-8-One will no longer be cut off of their supply when they leave Kentucky, so long as there is a Cracker Barrel nearby.
The soft drink company announced on Monday that Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is making Ale-8-One available nationwide. That includes 42 states, with 630 total retail locations.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to gain entry into Cracker Barrel Country Stores nationwide, and to begin developing a relationship that introduces Cracker Barrel patrons to the Best of the Bluegrass in our classic green glass bottles.” said Ellen McGeeney, President and COO of Ale-8-One.
Formulated in Winchester, KY by George Lee Wainscott, Ale-8 hit the market in 1926, and is the only soft drink invented in the Bluegrass still in existence. Wainscott was inspired to design the drink’s unique flavor after an unsuccessful lawsuit by Coca-Cola to stop distribution of Wainscott’s popular Roxa-Kola. The company remains locally owned and family operated by Wainscott’s great-great-nephew, Fielding Rogers. The company say Rogers still mixes the secret recipe in a locked blending room where Wainscott’s hand-written recipe notes hand on the wall.
